Peach, apricot, citrus, floral, spice and toast intermingle on the nose.
Vineyard Notes
The 2024 vintage began with vines in peak condition, with a mild winter
setting the stage for an early and promising start to the growing season.
A warmer-than-usual spring accelerated bud development, but an April
frost tested vineyards across the Peninsula. Summer brought warmth
and balance, with above-average temperatures and well-timed rainfall
keeping the vines thriving. September and October delivered near-perfect
conditions, with warm days and cool nights allowing for exceptional
ripening. Brief rain showers were never a problem, and all varieties
benefited—especially the reds, which reached outstanding maturity and
depth of flavor. As the cycle closed, the vines returned to dormancy in
pristine condition, setting the foundation for another remarkable vintage.
Production Notes
Grapes for this wine were harvested from our Montague vineyards after an
extended hang time on the vines. Gently crushed and pressed the juice was
allowed to cold settle overnight before racking clean. Fermented at a cool 14
C for about 14 days, the wine is blended and filtered to be ready to bottle.
Winemaker Notes
This Niagara Pinot Gris is partial stainless steel and barrel fermented. Left
on lees for 3 months to maintain its natural freshness and character. On the
palate flavours of lemon lime, and green apple skin lead with a hint of toast
oak. Crisp acidity and big texture make this wine very balanced to be drank
solo or in a lovely food pairing.
Food Pairing Notes
This Reserve Pinot Gris pairs well with a roasted black cod in a ginger butter
causes, with an apple and endive salad with toasted pine nuts.
